Danas je značenje reči pobratimizgubilo svoj prvobitni smisao, jer se u kolokvijalnom govoru često kaže za bliskog prijatelja da ti je pobratim. Međutim, u prošlosti kako kaže i Toplica moje deda se pobratimio sa njegovim ocem i venčao ga sa njegovom majkom u crkvi. Tada je to imalo dublji smisao i značilo je više od prijateljstva.

I ja se sećam da je deda imao pobratime. Sa nekima je bio u logoru u Nemačkoj, sa nekima je zajedno radio, dok za neke nisam znao. Sećam se da je za Topličinog oca Vladu zvao pobratimom.

I sve to možda bilo zaboravljeno da sada Toplicu ne srećem kao crkvenjaka u crkvi Sv. Trojce u Adrovcu, čuvenoj po mestu pogibije Nikole Rajevskog, koji je poslužio Tolstoju kao inspiracija za Vronskog u romanu Ana Karenjina. Danas crkva predstavlja mesto gde se odaja počast ne samo Rajevskom, već i našim vojnicima poginulim u ratu na Kosovu, ali i Ukrajinskim borcima ubijenim u Donbasu. Toplica se tu nekako sam pojavio i odmah zauzeo važno mesto crkvenjaka, jer objektivno neko mora da vodi računa o redu u crkvi i oko nje.

To je bio i ostao prostor na kome su se okupljali ljudi o crkvenim praznicima i valjalo je da ima domaćina. Pitam se da nije Toplice kako bi to sve izgledalo. Pošto se pobratimstvo prenosi sa kolona na koleno, mogu samo da kažem da je moj pobratim, pronašao sebe. Poput nekog lika iz Tarantinovog filma, doživeo je transformaciju i prva je šteta što njegovo zalaganje nije opšte prihvaćeno i prepoznato. Ovako to ostaje njegova pasija koja mu pomaže da preživi u selu koje nestaje.

Today, the meaning of the word buddy has lost its original meaning, because, in colloquial speech, we often called to a close friend like that. However, in the past, as Toplica said, my grandfather became a buddy of his father and married him and his mother in the church. Back then, it made a deeper sense and meant more than friendship.

And I remember my grandfather had buddies. He was with some of them in the concentration camp in Germany, he worked with some, while for some of them I didn’t know. I remember that he called Toplica’s father, buddy.

All this may have been forgotten that I do not now meet Toplica as a churchman in the church of Sv. Trinity in Adrovac.  The church is famous for the death of Nikola Rajevski, who served Tolstoy as an inspiration for Vronsky in the novel Ana Karenina. Today, the church is a place to pay tribute not only to Rajevski, but also to our soldiers killed in the Kosovo war, but also to Ukrainian soldiers murdered in Donbas. The Toplica somehow appeared there and immediately took the important place of the churchman.

Objectively someone has to take care of the order in and around the church. It was and remains a place where people gathered for church holidays, and it was worth having a host. I wonder if it was not Toplica what it would look like today. Since the institution of “buddy” is passing from person to person, I can only say that my buddy has found himself. Like a character from Tarantino’s film, he has transformed, and it is a pity that his commitment is not accepted and recognized by the community. However, his passion remains and helps him to survive in the disappearing village.
