John Frank, Ogbe (1986) – Fight to be someone / Borim se da budem neko

9 Nov , 2017

I entered Uber taxi and a black man who spoke English welcomed me.I asked him how he was and what he was doing. He replied: I’m fighting! I told him: Wait, I usually answer that! He added: You do not have to fight! I have to be someone. I told him: Oh, I have to because I come from a small and poor country. He looked at me in the rear view mirror and said he did not believe that my country was poorer than Nigeria from where he is from. I used the Austrian mobile to look at the Internet, GDP per capita of Nigeria is about $ 6,000, which is $ 500 a month and very much comparable to the 340 euros average salary in Serbia. He continued the story and said: Our politicians are very corrupt and I just do not understand how much they need to steal money in order to be satisfied. I said him, again: Wait, I usually say that! He continued: I do not understand what they are doing with so much money. The people chose them to lead the country, and they only think of themselves. I wondered if it was possible for a black taxi driver in Vienna to think like me. Well, if I have only a few tens of thousands of dollars, I would be great and have for whole family, he added. I think that they do not have any quality of life or that they miss the normal things that make life, I agreed and added: For thirty years, the biggest enigma for me is that a man was not born ready to do something for his people in Serbia. Yeee !!!, he agreed with me. He mentioned the recent case of corruption in Saudi Arabia. The main suspect was the guy with 17 billion dollars! We laughed and talked about our families. I was glad to hear that his wife was a nurse, had a child, and tried to help all members of the family. And that is different in the rich, they do not help anyone, because if they want to move only with a small finger, much less misery and an poverty would be on the earth.
